Joseph Hudson, 23, a 1998 graduate of Alamogordo High School, is assigned to the 507th Maintenance Co. He was among 10 to 12 Fort Bliss soldiers who U.S. military officials said were captured or killed in an ambush near An Nasiriyah, a major crossing point over the Euphrates northwest of Basra.

"I saw my Joseph on television while he was being interviewed. They tried to ask him questions, and he said he was just doing his job. ... I looked at him ... he looked so scared," said Anicita Hudson, who broke down several times while talking about her boy.
